To commemorate the sacrifices made for world freedom, Simon Haw’s Cenotaph Requiem will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic. They will be joined by the world-famous Band of the Grenadier Guards, raised in Bruges in 1656, with their bearskin caps. Along with the poignant Requiem there will be a varied programme of uplifting music as well as moving images to accompany the music. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgium it has never been more important to reflect on the futility of war.
